Originally, this cabin was a trappers cabin, and later converted to store salt for cattle. This cabin is located up and over the top of Lake Creek in the mountains east of Heber. For many years Vernon worked for the forest service and would see this cabin from time to time. He painted this setting during those years. The walls of the cabin still remain today.
